San Diego is a second-largest city in California. It’s located on the shore of the Pacific Ocean alongside the Mexican border, roughly 120 miles (193 kilometers) from Los Angeles. This town is considered a great place for travelers that are looking for new experiences. With the help of Anna from UniLash, a San Diego eyelash extensions salon, we’ll be taking a look at some of the top things to do in San Diego.
Visit the San Diego Zoo
The San Diego Zoo is a part of the Balboa Park and it houses more than 3500 animals. It’s the most visited zoo in the United States, with more than 4 million people visiting every year. This zoo is one of the few in the world that managed to successfully breed giant pandas. You will be able to see many rare and amazing animals such as gorillas, tigers, polar bears, and elephants. The exhibits are so large that there is a bus tour that covers 75% of the zoo’s area.
Experience the La Jolla Cove
If you are a fan of surfing or snorkeling, look no further than the La Jolla Cove. Surrounded by cliffs, this charming beach is the perfect spot to relax for a few hours. Marine life is very rich here and scuba divers will have a great time exploring it. There are also a lot of places where you can grab some dinner in the nearby area. Seagulls are very cheeky, though, and will try to steal your food. Beware of them if you don’t want to be left with an empty stomach.
Have fun at the Belmont Park
This amusement park was opened nearly one hundred years ago in 1925. It’s situated on the Ocean Front in the Mission Bay neighborhood. There are millions of visitors every year who come to enjoy the rides and take a swim at the local beach. The most famous attraction in the park has to be the Giant Dipper roller coaster, which is one of the trademarks of San Diego. If you want to raise your adrenaline levels and test your courage, Belmont Park is the perfect spot for you.
Check out the USS Midway Museum
This museum will be a real treat for any history fan. The USS Midway aircraft carrier was turned into a museum after its long service from 1945 to 1992.
It is stationed in downtown San Diego, at Navy Pier. The ship contains a huge collection of aircraft that were used by the military since World War II. You can take your time to look at the ship’s interior and even try your luck at a flight simulator. The museum also houses a cafe where you can relax and take a breather.
